Welcome! I am a mathematics teacher at West Michigan Aviation Academy. Below is a description of my education and experiences.
My educational experience began at Central Michigan University where I obtained teaching degree. My major is mathematics and my minor is speech. I truly have a passion for teaching and a love for math. My husband and I are originally from Ubly which is located on the east side, in the thumb, of Michigan. Our career's took us to Grand Rapids and we love it!
Outside of obtaining my degree at CMU, I was a part of the Upward Bound summer program. In this program I worked with students from several high schools located in Detroit, Michigan during the summer. The purpose of the program is to take first generation students (students who would be the first to attend college in their immediate family) and prepare them for the ACT and graduating high school. During my two summers in the program, I worked with students on the CMU campus for three weeks and I taught ACT Prep in Detroit for two weeks. It was such a phenomenal two summers. Where I come from I am not exposed to much diversity, so this was an eye opening experience. I learned so much from my students about the different cultures and the struggles they experience in and outside of school. It is something that will stay with me forever.
I am a very passionate teacher. I am so excited to get to know the students and begin an amazing school year together. I love having open communication between myself, the parents, and the students. If there is ever anything I can do to help, please feel free to contact me. Below is a link to the various ways I can be reached. Thank you!
